« Mon Dieu, si je survis, je ferai tout pour changer ça. » C'est sous le feu nourri de l'artillerie ukrainienne que Pavel Filatiev s'est fait cette promesse. Membre du 56e régiment d'assaut aéroporté russe, il participe dès le 24 février 2022 à la guerre déclenchée par le Kremlin. Blessé à l'oeil, il est évacué et demande à démissionner pour raisons de santé. Démission refusée. Il décide alors de fuir la Russie. Mais pas avant d'avoir témoigné, en publiant un long manifeste sur le réseau social VKontakte : ZOV, « l'appel », en référence aux trois lettres peintes sur les blindés qui ont envahi l'Ukraine.
Réfugié en France, Pavel Filatiev se bat aujourd'hui avec courage pour faire connaître la vérité. L'impréparation des troupes russes, le désespoir des combattants transformés en chair à canon, la gabegie, les primes jamais versées, les morts : derrière la propagande, la réalité est accablante, et son récit, implacable, en témoigne.
