An intimate and mouth-watering journey into the lives and cuisine of the Bloomsbury Group, featuring numerous unpublished recipes, beguiling quotations and original artworks.
The Bloomsbury Group fostered a fresh, creative and vital way of living that encouraged debate and communication ('only connect'), as often as not across the dining table. Gathered at these tables were many of the great figures in art, literature and economics in the early twentieth century: E. M. Forster, Roger Fry, J. M. Keynes, Lytton Strachey and Virginia Woolf, among many others. Here the Bloomsbury story is told in seven broadly chronological chapters, beginning in the 1890s and finishing in the very recent past. Each chapter comprises a series of narratives, many of which are enhanced with an appropriate recipe, along with sketches, paintings, photographs, letters and handwritten notes, and featuring original quotations throughout.
Part cookbook, part social and cultural history, this book will appeal to lovers of food and lovers of literature alike. -

A garden that cannot be seen in one glance entices people to step outside with a sense of wonder. Landscape designer Paul Bangay has an extraordinary ability to envisage scale and create gardens that feel as though they've been there forever. These gardens are places to explore.
They emerge from the countryside, with borrowed landscapes and dramatic views as key elements. Within each design, Paul creates spaces that bring a different experience of the garden. Vast lawns are bordered by wild grass terraces or dramatic herbaceous borders that flower all year round. An allée of trees directs the eye to mountains in the distance. Outdoor dining areas create intimate vantage points within the broader scale. Jasmine-covered walls diffuse exquisite scent on summer nights.
From grand gardens in France to a forest grown from saplings, join Paul on this tour de force of projects complete with lakes, mountains and walled gardens. For each project, Paul shares the design process, as well as garden plans and extensive planting lists.
Simon Griffiths' photography of these gardens from around the world captures the sublime form, light and generous landscapes.
Big Garden Design documents a designer who relishes the challenge of working at scale and the principles of landscape design from the most precise detail to the grandest vista. -
Celebrating the glories of gothic style and attitude, this tarot deck and accompanying handbook will help any goth find their true path
With traditional tarot iconography given a uniquely gothic aesthetic, this deck is illustrated with sophisticated new art by illustrator--and goth--Natalie Foss. Using the 78 cards and 40-page guidebook, elegantly presented in a gift box, the deck will accompany the user on their journey toward self-knowledge, and a more profound understanding of their place in the world. The 22 cards of the traditional Major Arcana, taking the user on a journey from the Fool to the World, are a proven way to address life's challenges; the 54-card Minor Arcana, consisting of suits of Wands, Pentacles, Cups, and Swords, help us understand our creative, material, emotional, and rational selves. All are explained and demystified in the accompanying book, written by a seasoned tarot practitioner (and ex-goth) Stephen Baird, so even beginners will be able to interpret the cards they draw, singly or as part of sophisticated spreads. -
